I paint with watercolors, with oil, and digitally with a Cintiq and Photoshop. I love it all, and have no favorite. I love animals, beauty, color, and humor. Sometimes I want to convey something deep and meaningful with my artwork, and sometimes I just want to be funny. Most of the time I just want to paint an animal of some kind.

One of my deepest wishes is to see humankind change our relationship with animals, to change our relationship to the earth itself: how we eat, drink, work, how we think of this earth we are a part of, and our understanding of our place in it.

About Sarah

I live in Vermont, my favorite place in the world. It’s full of pastures and low mountains, old farms and forest. It’s full of back-country dirt roads, deer, coyote, fox, raccoons, bobcat, woodchucks, and hawks.

I have been an artist my entire life, though I spent many years living another, more difficult life instead. That's my little brother back in 1967, in front of our house. These photos make my heart ache for all that was, and all that could have been. It reminds me of all I have learned and the journey since then. Life is such a grand dance...

These days I am the most fortunate woman in the world. I get to be wild now. I get to paint and walk in the woods and talk with animals all day.

May an open heart show me the way forward.
